Prof. Dr. Andreas Hackethal
Andreas Hackethal is Senior Researcher and Coordinator of the Pension Finance Lab at the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE. He holds a professorship at Goethe University in Frankfurt, joined Goethe’s Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in 2008 and served as its Dean from 2011 to 2015 and as its Dean of Programs from 2015 to 2020. His empirical research is on individual financial behavior, financial advice and pension finance. His work was published in the Journal of Finance, the Review of Financial Studies and the Review of Finance.
He chairs the advisory council to the German Financial Supervisory Authority BaFin and is a member of the Exchange Experts Commission (advising the German Federal Ministry of Finance) and of the working group consulting ESMA’s Financial Innovation Standing Committee. He co-founded Frankfurt’s Techquartier.com and heads the University’s startup center. He won over twenty teaching awards, was awarded the title “German Professor of the Year” by the student magazine unicum in 2010 and is regularly interviewed by leading national and international media such as the Financial Times, Le Monde, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, ARD and ZDF.
