Ulrich Bindseil
Ulrich Bindseil is a SAFE Senior Fellow since 2025 and an honorary professor at TU Berlin. Until 2025, he served at the European Central Bank as Director General for Market Infrastructure and Payments, having previously been Director General for Market Operations and Head of Risk Management.
Earlier in his career, he worked at the European Monetary Institute and the Deutsche Bundesbank, where he started his career in 1997. Ulrich has been a member of the BIS Markets Committee, the Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS), and the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI).
He has published numerous articles and books on applied central banking, including Monetary Policy Operations and the Financial System (2014, Oxford University Press), Central Banking before 1800 – a Rehabilitation (2019, Oxford University Press), Introduction to Central Banking (2022, Springer, with A. Fotia), and Introduction to Payments and Market Infrastructures (2023, with G. Pantelopoulos).
