Research Data Center
Research on German and European financial markets suffers from a lack of pan-European data sets. Also, existing data sets do not provide a standard identification of, for example, companies. Therefore, researchers often utilize data from the United States where the integration of different databases is more advanced. As a consequence, empirical analyses are mostly based on non-European data. However, because of the institutional differences, political recommendations that result from these analyses cannot – or only in a limited scope – be transferred to the European area.
To overcome this problem, the SAFE Research Data Center not only draws on the usual international data sources but also creates new European data sets, combines existing data sets and processes them. The aim is to place the five central research areas of SAFE on a common European data footing. Find the terms of use for data provided by the SAFE Research Data Center here.
The SAFE Research Data Center was accredited by the German Data Forum (RatSWD) in June 2020, more information can be found here. Since July 2016, the RatSWD has established a complaints office. Via a contact form on the homepage of the RatSWD, it is possible to address unresolved problems with the use of the data of the SAFE Research Data Center, which could not be settled in an exchange with the responsible contact person at SAFE, to the RatSWD.
