Data Center receives official recognition

German Data Forum accredits SAFE Research Data Center as new member

The Research Data Center of the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE has been accredited by the German Data Forum (RatSWD) as one of four new research data centres. The SAFE Data Center is thus officially on the list of research data centers that the RatSWD supports as an independent advisory body to the German Federal Government.

Decisive for the new accreditation of the SAFE Data Center by the RatSWD is the concentrated data offering for interdisciplinary research of financial markets and their key players with a clear European focus. Thus, the focus is not only on the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of various data sets on the historical development of financial markets at SAFE. The aim is also to build up a separate pan-European data set to complement the international data sources already available.

"The accreditation of the SAFE Research Data Center by the RatSWD confirms that we are on the exact right track with the development of a European database", says Uwe Walz, program director for the SAFE Data Center. "At the same time, the recognition by the German Data Forum acknowledges our work to date in pooling different data sets and making them available for economic research".

With the new accreditation, the SAFE Data Center team will in future also participate in the Standing Committee on Research Data Infrastructure (FDI Committee). The FDI Committee supports the work of the RatSWD with its expertise in the practical implementation and provision of research data infrastructures.
