Opening of a Research Data Center at the House of Finance

Unique access to data from the German Federal Statistical Office and the State Statistical Offices at Goethe University Frankfurt

State Minister Axel Wintermeyer, head of the State Chancellery of Hessen, opened a new research data center at Goethe University’s House of Finance on 6 November. The center provides researchers with direct access to data resources from the German Federal Statistical Office and the State Statistical Offices. It is operated in cooperation with the LOEWE Center SAFE. In his opening speech, Wintermeyer stressed the importance of data for research.

Research data centers have the objective to provide researchers with access to the comprehensive databases of the official statistics. The center at the House of Finance gives access to micro data from the German Federal Statistical Office as well as the State Statistical Offices. At the workplaces researchers from universities and independent research institutions have the possibility to independently analyze de facto anonymized micro data. Employees from the Statistical Offices take care of the PC workplaces at the House of Finance.
