Leibniz Institute SAFE establishes Digital Finance Network

Oliver Hinz coordinates the new network as Bridge Professor

Oliver Hinz will coordinate a new Digital Finance Network at the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE as of 1 September 2022. “I am very excited to accompany SAFE, build a strong research community, and develop ideas for a large collaborative project with various partners,” says Oliver Hinz, whose research interests mainly include digital markets, e-finance, and predictive analytics & applied machine learning.

Hinz has been a SAFE Research Fellow since the beginning of 2020, and, in coordinating the Digital Finance Network, is now also taking on a SAFE Bridge Professorship, which aims to link the personnel of the Leibniz Institute and the Department of Economics at Goethe University Frankfurt.

Focal points of the new network

The new network aims to connect research in the fields of digital transformation and finance by addressing, among other things, the resilience of financial systems, finance and artificial intelligence, and decentralized finance. With Oliver Hinz as coordinator, it is planned to hold a bi-monthly “SAFE Digital Finance Seminar” with national and international speakers from the research area.
Oliver Hinz has been Chair of Information Systems and Information Management at Goethe University Frankfurt since September 2017. He completed various research stays, such as at the University of Southern California, the University of Maryland, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Microsoft Research New York, and HEC Paris.

According to “Handelsblatt” (2014) and “WirtschaftsWoche” (2019, 2021), Oliver Hinz is one of Germany’s top researchers in management disciplines. His research has been published in renowned journals such as Information Systems Research (ISR), Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ), Journal of Marketing, Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), Decision Support Systems (DSS), Electronic Markets (EM) and Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE).
