The Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE jointly with the Institute for Banking and Financial History (IBF) and the House of Finance cordially invite you to attend a policy lecture on
Thirty Years of Utilising Financial History To Forecast the Future -
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Russel Napier
to be held on 22 October 2026, 17:15 - 18:15, House of Finance, E.20, Frankfurt
“The legendary investor Charlie Munger once said that “There is no better teacher than history in determining the future. There are answers worth billions of dollars in a $30 history book.” Increasingly, financial history is helping investors and policymakers make decisions. In other words, there is insight from hindsight.
Russel Napier's policy lecture, which concludes the academic conference organized by John Turner, Visiting Professor “Financial History” at Goethe University in 2026, will illustrate, from the perspective of an institutional investor, how insights from financial history can provide guidance for financial market participants and supervisors. Following the lecture, Karsten Müller will moderate a Q&A.
