In this webinar, participants get a practical introduction to the financial data available at the SAFE Research Data Center at the House of Finance. We’ll guide you through the basics of accessing and using the Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) platform - a key tool for anyone working with U.S. financial markets data.
You'll learn how to connect to WRDS, find and download stock market data from CRSP and firm-level financial data from Compustat, and get started with structuring and analyzing these data sets. We’ll walk through the essentials: handling daily and historical CRSP data, organizing Compustat fundamentals, and merging the two datasets for deeper financial research. Live demonstrations will show you each step, so you’ll leave with hands-on skills and a clear sense of how to work with these data sources in your own research.
We will have an additional 15 minutes for Q&A at the end.
