Sovereign debts are often repudiated - but that is hardly the end of the story. The workshop “States of Distress” organized by House of Finance’s Financial History visiting professor Marc Flandreau and hosted by the House of Finance of Goethe-University Frankfurt together with the Leibniz-Institute for Financial Research SAFE and the Institute for Banking and Financial History will examine the long legacy of sovereign default on political outcomes and state sovereignty. It will propose a multiplicity of angles from leading scholars in the field, covering Europe, the Americas and China from the War of American Independence to the Greek Crisis and offering sweeping insights on policy making.
Attendance is free of charge but registration is required. The registration is organized by the IBF.
