With a solemn kick-off event, the research group "Foundations of Law and Finance" (KFG LawFin), funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) with approx. 3.1 million euros, will start on 1st November. At the event, the two keynote speakers Martin Hellwig (until 2017 Director of the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods) and Klaus J. Hopt (Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law) will discuss the challenges of interdisciplinary research of lawyers and economists. The research group is led by Rainer Haselmann and Tobias Tröger, both of Goethe University and LOEWE Center for Sustainable Architecture for Finance in Europe (SAFE).
The group will bring together economists, lawyers and political scientists to analyze the impact of institutional and regulatory frameworks on financial market decisions and outcomes.
Development of discipline-integrating methods
Focusing on the interactions between law, economics and politics in this field, the impact of norms on the real economy and society as a whole should be measured and assessed more accurately. The goal is not only a cross-disciplinary collaboration, but also in the development of actually discipline-integrating methods.
The heart of the research group is a Fellowship program that will bring both established and younger scientists working at leading international universities and research institutions to Frankfurt for longer stays. This will give the researchers working at the Goethe University and SAFE the opportunity of intensive exchange and mutual enrichment in a more internationalized, interdisciplinary environment.
