Advancing ESG Risk Supervision in Finance

ESG-Uptake workshop brings together regulators and researchers to share best practices on ESG risk management

On 25-26 March 2025, the ESG-Uptake project held a two-day workshop on good practices for the supervision of ESG risks in banking, insurance, and capital markets activities. Organized in close cooperation with European Commission’s SG REFORM and the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the event brought together over 50 participants, including representatives from National Competent Authorities (NCAs), European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs), and academic researchers. A big “thank you” goes to the speakers and the participants for making this event so engaging and fruitful.

The ESG-Uptake project is funded via the European Union Technical Support Instrument (TSI) as part of “ESG Risk Management Framework for the Financial Sector” and conducted in cooperation with European Commission’s SG REFORM. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of 11 EU National Competent Authorities to monitor and address ESG risks in the financial sector and is delivered by a team of researchers from three partnering universities - Ca‘ Foscari University of Venice (Coordinator), WU University Vienna, from the European Commission’s JRC, and SAFE.
