This report provides an evaluation of the current state of EU company law. It analyzes whether imperfections in EU company law played a role in the financial and economic crisis of the past three years. It suggests improvements to EU company law, especially for the regulation of small- and medium-sized enterprises. The suggested initiatives are made with a view to enhancing cross-border mobility, enhancing the contributions of corporate governance and investors to the long-term viability of companies, and with respect to companies that are part of a group structure.
