This online seminar, featuring two of Europe’s leading experts on sustainable finance regulation, explores the evolution, current state, and future direction of sustainable finance frameworks, with a primary focus on the European Union.

The discussion traces how the regulation in the EU has emerged from early policy initiatives to the development of a comprehensive regulatory architecture, including taxonomy, disclosure, and prudential measures. It examines the drivers, political compromises, and market dynamics that have shaped today’s regime, while critically assessing its effectiveness and implementation challenges. Looking ahead, the event will consider how EU regulation can evolve to balance ambition with usability, ensure global competitiveness, and address concerns such as complexity, data gaps, and regulatory overlap. A comparative perspective will situate the EU approach alongside developments in other major jurisdictions, highlighting convergences, divergences, and the prospects for international alignment.

The session aims to foster a forward-looking dialogue on how sustainable finance regulation can adapt to support the transition to a resilient, low-carbon economy.
