Three SAFE researchers take part in event organized by the Leibniz Association

Book a Scientist offers participants the opportunity to speak directly with an expert from the Leibniz Association in a 25-minute one-on-one conversation. The event, organized by the Leibniz Association, takes place online on 3 June 2025, with available time slots in the morning (10:00–11:30) and afternoon (16:00–17:30). Sign up for free and ask your questions directly to the experts!

Three SAFE researchers will take part in Book a Scientist:

  • Jonathan Pfitzer: Global corporations - between division of labor and responsibility (German/English)
Today's global economy is strongly characterized by multinational corporations that appear as one, but in fact often extend across hundreds of sub-companies. Why do they do this? What advantages/disadvantages does this generate for them? What risks does this pose for legislators, customers or victims of their products and work processes? Is it a good thing to give corporations so many organizational options? What would be the alternative?
  • Olga Balakina: Financial advice and social media (English)
People increasingly make important financial decisions on their own. While professional advisors and close peers have traditionally offered guidance – with mixed outcomes – social media has emerged as a powerful new source. But what do we know about it? Let's discuss why and how people engage with financial advice online, what are the risks and rewards of following it, and more about financial advice and social media?
  • Ina Krapp: Divided city - divided economy? Historical influences on companies in Berlin (German/English)
Although Germany has been reunified for several decades, there are still major economic differences between East and West. Using the case of Berlin, I use historical company data to examine the extent to which the construction and fall of the Berlin Wall affected company locations within the city.
