The SAFE Data Center and its Program Director Horst Entorf, Professor of Econometrics at Goethe University Frankfurt, have been awarded funding by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) to set up a data repository to support and enhance research on finance. The project is based on a joint initiative with the Goethe University Library Johann Christian Senckenberg and the Hessian Library Information System HeBIS.
The new research data repository called FiF (“Forschungsdateninfrastruktur für Finanzdaten”) will be tailored to the needs of researchers in the field of finance as there is, in contrast to many other academic areas, no extensive and widely accessible research data infrastructure available. To fill this gap, the project partners aim to build a data sharing platform where research data are described and archived, so that researchers from Germany and abroad can identify and use them for their research. The repository will be compatible to existing structures and standards in the social sciences in order to allow for connectivity with respect to similar services worldwide.
The project combines SAFE’s expertise in financial research with the competencies of its partner institutions in the usage, storage and provision of scientific data. The funding is provided by the Scientific Library Services and Information Systems (LIS) program of DFG.
