Research Center SAFE Awarded “TOTAL E-QUALITY” Certificate

SAFE honored for its commitment to provide a working environment based on the principle of equal opportunities

The Research Center SAFE has been awarded the ”TOTAL E-QUALITY” certificate for exemplary action in terms of a human resource management aimed at providing equal opportunities. This title for the years 2018 to 2020 is conferred by the TOTAL E-QUALITY Association and certifies a successful and sustainable commitment to equal opportunities for women and men at work. The certificate will be presented on 31 October 2018 at a ceremony in Stuttgart.

According to the jury of TOTAL E-QUALITY Deutschland e.V. SAFE has fundamentally anchored the principle of equal opportunities in its structures since its founding in 2013, which is reflected in the "very good institutionalization of gender equality and the integration into the own organizational culture". The center benefits from the close cooperation with Goethe University Frankfurt and the opportunity to use the facilities there, the jury writes. It recommends to use existing tools such as the women's network or regular surveys among its employees to "develop own tailor-made equal opportunity measures".

"We are very pleased about this award, it is a confirmation of our work in recent years," SAFE Director Jan Pieter Krahnen says. "In the future, we want to further improve the reconciliation of family and working life," SAFE equal opportunity officer Professor Loriana Pelizzon adds. The main goal of gender equality work at SAFE is to increase the proportion of women in under-represented areas, Pelizzon says.

The proportion of women among SAFE employees is at around 40 percent – around 27 percent in research and about 83 percent in administration.
