Michele Costola wins research prize

SAFE researcher selected for Young Investigator Training Program at Econometric Models of Climate Change Conference 2019

Michele Costola has been awarded the Young Investigator Training Program Research Prize (YITP) which is part of the Econometric Models of Climate Change Conference 2019 (EMCC-IV 2019) in Milan, Italy.

Costola presented his research at the conference which took place on 29 and 30 August at the University of Milano-Bicocca. The conference aims at promoting an interdisciplinary approach to the detection and attribution of climate change, cross-fertilization between climate science, economics and econometrics, and econometric estimates of climate impacts and policy evaluation.

The award focuses on selected research projects which use econometric methods to analyze climate data and on economic, financial and econometric studies of climate impacts. The gross monetary value of the prize is 3000 Euro and includes a research visit in one of 27 host institutions in Italy. In this respect, Costola will be visiting Ca’ Foscari University of Venice during October 2019.

He has been working as an Assistant Professor at Goethe University and SAFE since June 2016. Before that, he received a Ph.D. in Economics and Management from the University of Padova. Between 2013 and 2016, he was Postdoctoral Research Fellow of Ca´ Foscari University of Venice. His research interests focus on empirical finance, systemic risks, financial connectedness, financial stability and sustainable finance.
