Bernd Skiera first in Handelsblatt’s business studies ranking

Bernd Skiera, Professor for Electronic Commerce at Goethe University Frankfurt and principal investigator at the Research Center SAFE, has achieved first place in the latest ranking of prolific current research in the field of business administration published by the German business daily Handelsblatt. The ranking is based on publications in recognized international journals by researchers in the German-speaking region during the last five years.

Since 1999, Skiera has held the chair of Electronic Commerce at Goethe University Frankfurt; one of the first of its kind in Germany. He is also a member of the Managing Board of the eFinance Lab, head of the Real-Time Advertising Competence Center and contributor to the LOEWE Center SAFE. His research focuses on electronic commerce and online marketing, customer management, and pricing. For example, he develops models that use information about a firm's customer base to determine its financial value. Skiera primarily conducts empirical research and works closely with companies when developing research models.

The German business daily Handelsblatt publishes a business studies research ranking every two years. The ranking includes researchers in the area of business administration that come from Germany, Austria or Switzerland or conduct research in these countries. Researchers get points for each article published in a scientific journal. The points depend on the reputation of the journal and on whether the researcher has published the study on his own or with coauthors.
