Governor Rajan will consider the global economic environment and discuss how global governance may need to respond and change in order to avert crises and improve recoveries. He will take questions from the audience, moderated by Otmar Issing.

Raghuram Rajan is the 23rd Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, since September 2013. Previously, he was a Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he is currently on leave of absence. Between 2003 and 2006, Rajan was the Chief Economist and Director of Research at the International Monetary Fund.
Rajan is a member of the Group of Thirty. He was the President of the American Finance Association in 2011 and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was awarded the inaugural Fischer Black Prize for the best finance researcher under the age of 40. He has also received the global Indian of the year award from NASSCOM in 2011 and the Infosys prize for the Economic Sciences in 2012. Rajan is also the 2013 winner of the Deutsche Bank Prize in Financial Economics, awarded bi-annually by the Center for Financial Studies and Goethe University.
